Blogs: Free-flowing information and opinions

John Timpane, for the Philadelphia Inquirer, wrote this article on the use of blogs during the Democratic Convention. His main point is, "Blogs can pay attention where the mainstream won't go. And one of the healthiest things blogs do is critique the mainstream coverage." This means that we don't have to tether ourselves to mainstream media for news updates; now, instead of unconsciously being subjected to the biased, all-powerful "Big Four," we can choose our biased Blog writer instead. What sounds cynical is actually positive: we have access to on-the-spot information and opinions, first-hand accounts, different perspectives on important situations, and, most important, a free-flow of information.
